Applications are already being accepted for the first stage of the hugely popular gastronomic event ‘Rota do Petisco’ (Tapas Route), which will once again be held in Lagos, Aljezur and Vila do Bispo between May 5 and June 11.
The event also welcomes regional businesses in the form of a smaller ‘Rota do Comércio’ (Business Route).
For those who do not already know, ‘Rota do Petisco’ is an annual event organised by Portimão association Teia D’Impulsos involving scores of restaurants offering a variety of typically Algarvian dishes and desserts at reduced prices.
Last year, the event was divided into stages for the first time, taking place initially in Lagos, Aljezur and Vila do Bispo before moving to Lagoa, Monchique and Silves, and then finally ‘home’ to Portimão where the initiative first started.
The 2016 ‘Rota’ broke all previous records, selling 240,000 tapas and raising nearly €22,000 for local charities.
