Restaurant review – New Lighthouse shining bright

Inspired by the Alfanzina lighthouse, the recently opened Lighthouse Grill & Bar has already established itself as a venue with a difference.

Set high above Clube GolfeMar in Alfanzina and enjoying unparalleled views over the coast, this stylish bar and restaurant has set out to strike that difficult balance between family-friendly and fine dining.

And strike it it has: with a large swimming pool and a children’s pool featuring its own snack bar, the complex also features an enclosed play area within its spacious terrace.

In fact, every detail has been carefully thought out to provide a unique experience for guests, from the elegantly decorated bar to the bright and airy restaurant, which features colourful paintings depicting Carvoeiro’s fishing heritage.

The main theme, however, is of course the lighthouse, with lovely details throughout including hand-painted walls, lighthouse-shaped light fixtures and a stunning selection of photographs by local photographer Jorge Fonseca.

Serving all-day breakfasts alongside a selection of tasty snacks from 9am to 5pm, the Lighthouse seamlessly moves from day to night. Open from 6.30 and featuring elegant table settings and superb service, the restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on fresh produce. With a choice of mouth-watering starters, meat and pasta dishes and decadent desserts, there is also a children’s menu available.

But what really sets the Lighthouse apart is its unique location. Boasting a trendy lounge area that’s perfect for an afternoon cocktail, the large terrace remains its calling card, affording spectacular panoramic views towards the ocean and the Alfanzina lighthouse.
