Resident Group blood drive

Do something amazing this month by giving blood at the Resident Group’s second blood drive.

This initiative has been organised in association with the Associação de Dadores de Sangue do Barlavento do Algarve (ADSBA), a non-profit blood donor association in the western Algarve, and the Apolónia supermarket group, and will be held at the Apolónia supermarket in Almancil on Friday, April 23.

A purpose-built mobile blood unit from the Instituto Português do Sangue, the national blood institute in Lisbon, will be open to the public in the supermarket’s car park from 10.30am until 1pm and from 2.30pm until 6pm.

Giving blood takes no more than 30 minutes from the time a person enters the unit until they leave, and involves filling in a health questionnaire before speaking to a doctor, who checks a person’s blood pressure, and then giving blood.

To give blood, potential donors must be between the ages of 18 and 65 years old, or 60 years old if giving blood for the first time, as well as weighing a minimum of 50kg and not suffer from chronic illnesses.
