Residency Portugal

Each week in your letters’ column, there now seems to be someone who lives in the UK and has a holiday home here moaning about not being able to spend so much time here now post Brexit.

My wife and I moved from the UK to the Algarve 13 years ago and one of the first things we did was apply for residency and since have never looked back.

I saw the Kirkpatricks’ letter (April 29 edition). They reside in a country that voted to come out of Europe. I am sorry, but you can’t have your feet in both camps – you are either a Portuguese resident or a UK one.

If you are that concerned, surely you could spend six months and 1 day here in the Algarve to at least apply for Residency. As the saying goes, you can’t have your cake and eat it.
