New technology hub to develop sustainable transport solutions
The project for a new technology centre dedicated to renewable energies will be presented this Friday, the 26th of August, at the Algarve’s International Racetrack (Portimão). The event will be attended by Ana Abrunhosa, Minister of Territorial Cohesion.
The new technological hub, dedicated to renewable energies in the transport, mobility and energy solutions sector, is the creation of CELERATOR (Associação Parque Tecnológico do Algarve). This private association is jointly constituted by the University of the Algarve and Parkalgar (Parques Tecnológicos e Desportivos, S.A).
The project’s main objective is to establish a centre dedicated to the research, development and implementation of energy solutions based on green hydrogen and synthetic fuels. This will entail the construction of new facilities, such as laboratories and test centres, and setting up five high and medium-high technology companies within the infrastructures by 2024.
As part of its mission, it will also invest in developing and rolling out technological solutions on the market to help fulfil the carbon neutrality commitments assumed by Portugal and the European Union.
