THE NATIONAL electricity grid REN announced that it will accept the northern route for the Tunes-Portimão pylons after residents from Silves and Messines protested outside the company headquarters on Tuesday.
Artur Lourenço, a spokesman for REN said: “We will change the pylons from the south to the north as the resident’s want, but only if the government authorises it. “This is because it will enter the Rede Natura, an ecological area that may cause problems with the European Commission.”
