Religion is set to become a new tourism product for the region after the Algarve Diocese launched the Pastoral Tourism project.
Although the Diocese recognises religion is unlikely to attract a large number of tourists to the Algarve, Father Manuel Neto, responsible for the project, hopes its religious patrimony and festivities will serve as a complement to the existing tourist offer.
As part of the project, a website has been created with information about religious attractions, routes and festivities, and brochures will be placed at Algarve hotels and tourist offices.
