Religious procession through Loulé

Thousands of people accompanied the icon of the Mãe Soberana, a figure of the Virgin Mary, through Loulé during a religious procession on Saturday, April 26.

This procession is one of the largest in the region and sees thousands of Catholics following the Virgin Mary, with the Simão da Veiga philharmonic band accompanying, until she is taken to her chapel, the Ermida de Nossa Senhora.

A service was held in Igreja de São Francisco on the morning of the procession and fireworks were set off at night to end the annual celebrations.
