Silves Castle || If the combination of world music concerts, belly dancing, poetry reading, relaxing massages and great food served within the walls of a castle sounds like a treat to you, then you might be interested in Silves’ new initiative, ‘Sunset Secrets – Quintas do Castelo’.
Aiming to create a “relaxing and intimate atmosphere” for its visitors, the event is taking place every Thursday from 6.30pm to 11pm at Silves Castle. The evenings begin with relaxing massages by masseuse Lúcia Guerreiro, followed by musical performances at 7.30pm, which will be divided into two parts.
During the concert’s intermission, there will be gastronomic demonstrations by Café Castelo de Silves and the Algarve Wine Route team will showcase the best produce the municipality has to offer with new “innovative” twists.
After the concerts, there will be oriental belly dancing by Mónica Pereira, who will use fire to create a unique spectacle.
For the initiative’s next event on July 10 and later on September 18, local Algarve world/jazz trio ‘Descaroçados’ will be providing musical entertainment, followed by Lyra (July 17 and August 21), Eduardo Ramos trio (July 24 and September 11), Fad’Nu (July 31 and August 28), and Dell’ Acqua Trio (September 4).
‘Sunset Secrets’ will not take place on August 7 and 14, due to the Medieval Fair being held in the town.
Tickets cost €5 for the general public, €4 for members of groups of over 20 people, and €2 for Silves residents.
