Rei das Praias beach restaurant launches take-away menu

Popular beach restaurant Rei das Praias, located at Caneiros beach near Ferragudo, has launched a take-away menu for the “next few weeks” as Portugal prepares to enter a new lockdown.

The list of starters includes fish ceviche (€12.10), oysters (€3.50 each), shrimp in garlic oil (€12.65), clams with garlic sauce (€22 for 300 grams), fish soup (€5), vegetable soup (€3) and farm soup (€10).

There’s also a great selection of fish to choose from, including red snapper, golden bream, sea bass and dover sole, which is cooked in the oven or grilled.

Customers can also order a fish and seafood cataplana (a traditional Portuguese stew) or a seafood rice dish, both for two people and costing €55 each, as well as lobster rice for two (€90), grilled tiger prawns (€85 per kilo) and taggliatelle with carabineiro shrimp (€24.90).

Also on the menu are two popular meat dishes – ‘carne de porco à Alentejana’, made with marinated pork and clams (€23); and piri-piri grilled chicken (€14).

Side dishes include chips, salad and rice.

Last but not least, the dessert menu features fig and carob pie (€6.50), lemon meringue pie (€6.50), almond cake with shredded sweet pumpkin (€6.50), cheesecake (€6.50), chocolate mousse (€5) and a mixture of fresh fruit (€5.50).

Customers placing orders over €50 will receive a complimentary bottle of Rei das Praias wine.

The restaurant, situated on the popular Caneiros beach since 1976, asks that orders be placed four hours in advance.
