A NEW medical centre specialising in the treatment of muscular problems and recovery from injuries is scheduled to open in São Brás de Alportel in September 2006, according to a recent announcement made by the president of the Algarve Regional Health Authority.
The facility is one of five hospital units in Portugal considered a priority by the Ministry for Health and will be managed by the Grupo Português de Saúde. The new unit, boasting 54 beds, will not deal with emergencies but will serve patients requiring care for up to three months at a time. Those patients could be victims of work or road accidents, which have resulted in disabilities.
