Registry delays

Users of the region’s Conservatórias, registry offices, are experiencing delays of up to five hours at some offices as workers struggle to meet increasing demands.

Residents are required to register all documentation, including cars, businesses, homes, births, and identification documents, at their local office.

The volume of people using the facilities coupled with ongoing staff training has led to queues being found outside almost every Conservatória in the Algarve.

A spokesman for STFPA, the Faro district workers union, has called for “urgent measures to be taken” to stop the situation worsening.
