Registration for a space at Albufeira’s community vegetable gardens is taking place until September 20.
Those interested will need to fill out a form (available at the Câmara’s webpage) and deliver it to the city’s Urban Rehabilitation Office.
The Guia Community Gardens is an iniatiative created by the Albufeira Câmara in partnership with the António Silva Leal Foundation in which citizens can apply for a 40sqm parcel of land to plant vegetables and herbs. Water supply and sheds for tool are also included as part of the package.
The first community gardens will be implemented next to the Nossa Senhora da Visitação retirement home, with future farmers also receiving some training in organic farming. All the produce grown is for personal consumption.
Preferential treatment will be given to citizens who live in Guia and large families (with four or more people).
