Now in its 10th year, Alcoutim’s Feira de Doces d’Avó (grandmother’s sweets fair) returns to the riverside town on April 3-4 showcasing the Algarve’s most traditional sweets.
As ever, there will be a number of Easter-themed workshops, like egg painting and the baking of the traditional Portuguese Easter cake ‘folar’ – a doughy sweet-bread with an egg cooked in the middle of it.
This year, the fair will feature its first ‘Concurso de Folares de Alcoutim’ – awarding prizes for the best ‘folares’ on offer, while there will also be a number of performances by Portuguese musicians.
Organised along the waterfront, the fair opens every afternoon from 2pm to 7pm.
Admission is free.
