A SPECIAL regional fund has recently been set up to finance the marketing and promotion required to attract more airlines to operate routes to Faro.
The fund is the result of an agreement between the Associação de Turismo do Algarve (ATA), ANA-Aeroportos de Portugal (ANA), Grande Área Metropolitana do Algarve (AMAL), the Instituto de Turismo de Portugal (ITP) and various private entities.
By attracting new routes to Faro Airport, the partnership hopes to contribute to the economic and touristic development of the region and help minimise the current seasonality affecting regional tourism.
The agreement was signed during an official visit of the Secretary of State for Tourism, Bernardo Trindade, who was in the Algarve on January 6.
