The first Portuguese Red Bull Grand Prix, christened the ‘Craziest Race in the World’, took place last weekend in Lisbon’s Edward VII Park. The event, involving elaborately decorated go-carts, resembling wedding cakes and other eccentric objects, proved popular, with spectators cheering as the drivers attempted to steer their unorthodox vehicles. Hundreds of people went along last Sunday to witness the antics first-hand.
The creativity that the 52 finalists demonstrated in the construction of their vehicles, as well as the spirit of the competitors, organisers and the public, all contributed to what jury member Rui Unas described as an “unforgettable event”. Team ‘Dahhhh’ were the winners with 134 points.
