Recycling project

Tavira primary school D. Paio Peres Correia is soon to launch a project that will allow residents in the area to drop off disused electrical and electronic equipment in suitable containers.

Photocopiers, computers, televisions, mobile phones, washing machines, air conditioners or any other electrical equipment may be deposited in the ‘Electrão’ collection point that will be available at the school building.

Meanwhile, ALGAR, the Algarve’s solid waste management company responsible for collecting and processing waste debris in the region’s 16 councils, achieved the best result in waste recycling in 2010 in Portugal, with 24,883 tonnes sent for recycling, making a total of around 68 tonnes per day.
