National recycling company Algar has launched a campaign to raise awareness of materials which can and cannot be taken to recycling points or ecopontos.
Each of the four coloured ecopontos caters for specific materials. Green is for glass bottles and jars or all colours. Other materials such as crockery, mirrors, windows and other glass objects should not be placed in them.
According to Algar, enough energy is saved by recycling one glass bottle to power a computer for 25 minutes.
