SEVEN CAPE Verdian men between the ages of 23 and 40 have been arrested in São João da Venda near the Algarvian capital of Faro suspected of drug trafficking.
The arrests came following a series of house searches which also resulted in the recovery of 13,000 doses of heroin, a record for the Algarve, 7,000 doses of cocaine, a quantity of ecstasy pills and a number of firearms including two shotguns and three pistols.Police also seized over 13,000 euros in cash.According to Police sources, the searches were the culmination of a five month operation code named “Sucupira” and involved 50 officers.All seven suspects have been remanded in custody.
