The Portuguese swimming championships in Leiria saw an outstanding performance from Portinado star Alexandre Agostinho who set a new national 100m freestyle record. That preparation put the 23-year-old in the right frame of mind for the European short course championships in Istambul where he again bettered that time on two occasions (47.82s and 47.64s) as well as swimming a Portuguese best ever over the 50m freestyle distance.
