Vila Real de Santo António hosted athletics’ European Club Champions Cup last weekend.
In the men’s competition, Italy’s Fiamme Gialle just shaded Spain’s Playas de Castellon by virtue of more individual victories while serial title holders Lutch Moscow – 15 wins in the past 16 years – dominated the women’s competition. A noteworthy performance was also given by British 110m hurdle winner Andy Turner representing the City of Manchester Club while Sporting Lisbon’s women and Benfica’s men were slightly disappointed with their fourth and fifth place finishes respectively overall.
