Readers’  Survey results

THE Readers’ Response Survey is something that the team at The Resident always look forward to, as it gives our readers a chance to voice their ideas and comments on the most popular, weekly, English language newspaper in Portugal; and this year is no exception ….

From our newer features, Pet Corner, Sudoku and Personal Training to the old favourites of Country Matters, Month in Monchique and Is it Just Me?, you are still lapping up all our feature writers have to say about living and working in Portugal. As requested in last year’s survey, our news section has expanded, and includes a greater diversity of topics, which seem to have everyone satisfied.

When asked what topics you would like us to cover, that we do not at the moment, many readers suggested spirituality, world music and motoring. The latter has become more prominent in the newspaper in the past couple of weeks, with articles on the new Mitsubishi, Choppers, the three-wheeler motorbikes currently residing in Vilamoura and, on page 43 of this week’s edition, the new Ford S-Max.

Some readers said that The Resident does not cater for younger readers, which has been discussed at length by our team, and plans are in the pipeline for features, competitions and games for our younger readers, or those readers who are just young at heart. Restaurant guides have been requested, and we are considering a weekly or monthly restaurant review. The recent spate of competitions, ranging from festival tickets, free massages and water park rides, has been a definite hit with readers.

The overall response to the Readers’ Survey has been a positive one; almost every reader who replied thought that the design and layout of the newspaper was excellent, which has our production team smiling from ear to ear, and that the editorial content of the paper was just as good.

Keep reading The Resident for information and news about the Algarve, Lisbon and Portugal in general, and thank-you, once again, to all our readers who responded.
