Reaching out to the British  community in Madeira

The British Consulate in Lisbon, with the help of partner organisations, will be holding a series of talks in Funchal, Madeira, on February 14, aimed at raising the awareness of British nationals on the island of the range of services available to them in Portugal.

The event has been organised jointly by the British Consulate in Lisbon, Anglo-Portuguese law office Neville de Rougemont and financial consultants Imperius Asset Management.

The talks will focus on a range of issues from what the Consulate can do for British nationals, to pensions, wills and taxation issues.

The event will be held at the Trinity Rooms, Holy Trinity Church, in Funchal, between 3.30pm and 5.30pm, and will be followed by tea and coffee for all participants.

There talks will be by:

Simona Demuro, Consul, British Consulate Lisbon -the role of the Consulate for British nationals who are residents or tourists; notarial and documentary services and other issues concerning British nationals and the role of the Embassy in times of crisis.

Matthew Krystman, Director, Imperius Asset Management – EU taxation and changes coming up. Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes (QROPS), taxation on pensions and choosing the most suitable insurance for foreigners living in Portugal.

Geoffrey Graham, Managing Partner, Neville de Rougemont – wills and taxation.

There are 50 places available so confirmation of attendance is needed by completing an online form at www.ukinportugal.fco.gov.uk by February 9. Entrance is free.
