It’s sad to keep reading all these horrifying stories about horses being mistreated in Portugal.

It’s very clear that Portugal’s animal protection law, as it is now, does little to protect animals like horses.

I’m interested in seeing whether the country’s new left-wing government will do anything to improve the law, and to extend its protection to all animals treated inhumanely. After all, the PAN political party for animals and nature appears to be a supporter of António Costa …

You can’t blame police for letting the culprits go when they have no laws backing them up. This is a problem that can only be solved up top with the big shots in Lisbon.
