Whether car hire or flights or apartment hire costs, they all rise in price during peak periods, subjecting demand versus capacity as the rationale.
As a regular traveller to Faro and the Western Algarve, I have witnessed several heated altercations take place in the various car hire offices at Faro, due to other unplanned costs buried in the smallprint being brought to the attention of the customer, i.e., the customer is mandatory charged upfront for a full tank of fuel, a great profitmaker for the company when those travellers that need a car are only driving a few kilometres out of Faro to their destination and do not intend clocking up 500km during their week’s stay.
The other buried smallprint cost is insurance excess, which some companies will reserve on your card to the tune of £1,500, which I’m sure has seen holidaymaker cards declined. Treating customers fairly comes to mind…
