THE PORTUGUESE branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) held a committee meeting recently in Lisbon. On the agenda were a number of items pertaining to the smooth running and the registration of the Portuguese branch. For the first time in the history of the RBL in Portugal, they now have two trained members to assist Ron Goddard, the chairman. Mark Hanmer and Stewart Austin (pictured here with their diplomas) travelled to the south of Spain for the training session that will prove to be of great value to the Portuguese branch. Another point on the agenda was the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the branch that will take place in May next year.
The RBL welcomes anyone interested in joining the Portuguese branch. Ron commented that there is no truth that one must have served in the military to become a member and that the RBL’s membership is open to all men and women living in Portugal.
