A FOCUSED Royal British Club Golfing Society (RBCGS) team defeated the low handicap team representing the Portuguese Barmen’s Association (APB) on the Championship Course at the Golf do Estoril.
In their 18th encounter, the RBCGS team overcame the challenge from a team that included seven single-digit handicap players. Brian Hughes was the high-scoring RBCGS player with 36 points. The Barmen’s João Roquete was the highest in the APB team with 38 points. Barmen Captain, Joaquim Ribeiro, from the John Bull in Cascais, organised a lunch at Alcoitão’s Mira Lapa following the day’s play, and turned the handsome trophy over to RBCGS Captain, Edward Robbins. The win marks only the fifth for the RBCGS in the 18 years of play.
