Members and guests of the Royal British Club Golf Society (RBCGS) came together on July 28 on Estoril Golf Course to compete for the Rankin Brothers Trophy.
The competition, the final part of the society’s Silver Jubilee Plate, saw 40 participants taking to the greens, despite soaring temperatures.
The Rankin family has been a sponsor of the RBCGS for more than 10 years and the winner of the trophy this year was the RBCGS captain Ron Goddard, who narrowly beat David Jackson by one point.
In third place with 33 points was Ewan Rankin while Sally Buxton, Graham Dewar and Chris Goulding finished in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The Newstead Cup was won by George Everett while Ewan Rankin and Miranda Thomas both received a bottle of Taylor’s port for being closest to the pin.
Other winners on the day included Pat Potier taking away the Cow Bell prize, with Karin Dekker winning the prize for best woman guest and Jimmy Duff winning best men’s guest while Chris Goulding, with a score of 69 points over two days, won the Silver Jubilee Plate for 2010.
The next tournament to be held by the society is the Hotel Baia Trophy, to be held on September 1.
