Last weekend saw the latest round of the Southern Regional Rally Championship head for the hills north of Portimão. Twenty-seven teams competed in the Rally Vila de Monchique with Márcio Marreiros and Pedro Conde emerging victorious ahead of Orlando Bule, all driving Mitsubishi. Ruben Tabaio’s Ford Cosworth finished third. At the same time, the FIA council announced that the Algarve-based Rally of Portugal will remain part of the 13-race World Championship calendar next year at a date yet to be announced.
