Investigations are ongoing into the tragic accident in Guimarães over the weekend which claimed the lives of three spectators – two of them children – at a ‘rally sprint’ (a rally marked by speed-without-rules). The problem, explain press reports, is that the event’s drivers appear to have closed ranks “to protect the driver”, who is still in a serious condition in hospital. Killed in the accident was a 13-year-old boy, as well as an eight-year-old and his mother.
