Grey mornings to develop into rain, possibly thunderstorms, in afternoons
Rain is going to “mark the beginning of June” in Portugal (with northern and central areas expected to benefit the most).
“It is a typical situation” Paula Leitão of IPMA, meteorological institute is quoted as saying. “During the morning, the sky presents itself as being cloudy and then, in the afternoon, with the general warming, clouds associated with showers, and thunderstorms will form”.
There is also expected to be a slight reduction in temperature, albeit thermometers are unlikely to register falls below 20ºC.
Other news outlets suggess this isn’t a typical situation for June at all. Consensus however returns over how long the weather is likely to be ‘marked by rain’ – and that is for the next two-three weeks.
Districts under ‘yellow warning’ for rain today are:
- Vila Real
- Bragança
- Braga
- Porto
- Guarda
- Viseu
- Coimbra
- Castelo Branco
- Portalegre
- Évora
- Beja
- Viana do Castelo
