A national strike called by CP (Comboios de Portugal) has already seen 277 of the 433 trains due to have run between the hours of midnight last night and 10am this morning. Further disruptions will follow. The strike is due to end at 23.59 this evening, with syndicate leader Adriano Filipe stressing that if workers do not get the responses they want, they will continue to stage walk-outs. None of this may affect citizens living in the Algarve, but in areas like Lisbon thousands of commuters rely on trains everyday, making today even more difficult for them than usual.
