The Portuguese partnership of Lourenço Beirão da Veiga and Ricardo Bravo were crowned Spanish GT champions at the International Motor Park of the Algarve near Portimao at the weekend.

Their latest success made it six victories from 12 races this season, securing the title for Ferrari with ease. The last international event of 2009 also marked the first anniversary of the new track, the last 12 months having seen over 500,000 spectators witness a multitude of motor sport spectaculars.

For 2010 an equally exciting programme is already being put in place, while the coming year should also see the addition of a five-star hotel and apartment complex as well as a karting track.

First, however, the motor park will serve as the starting point for the Rally Casinos of the Algarve set to get under way at 9pm on Saturday, November 21.

The closing round of the Portuguese domestic championship has the likes of title holder Bruno Magalhaes and closest rival Vitor Pascoal leading a 50-strong field into the opening superspecial night stage before attention turns to Monchique on Sunday.
