Quinta do Lago will host the second edition of the ‘Monte da Quinta – Race to Portugal’ golf tournament on November 8 and 9.
Last year the competition involved 16 clubs from Britain and Ireland with County Waterford Faithlegg Golf Club’s Jim McLeane taking individual honours in the final while England’s Harleyford Golf Club claimed the team trophy.
The success of the competition, which sees its qualifying phase played out locally in Britain and Ireland, is reflected in the fact that 20 teams are involved in this year’s renewal on the prestigious Algarve resort’s South Course.
Meanwhile former Portuguese No1 Filipe Lima will for the first time join the Santos brothers Ricardo and Hugo as well as title holder Antonio Rosado and eleven-time winner Antonio Sobrinho from the Algarve among many others in contesting the national championships in Benavente between the 8th and 11th of this month.
