Race legend Ayrton Senna’s Algarve villa goes on sale for €9.5 million

He bought it in 1991 for the equivalent of €500,000 and now the luxury villa of former Formula One legend Ayrton Senna is reported to be on the market for a whopping €9.5 million.

Italian sports journal La Gazzetta dello Sport carried the news yesterday, with no information on who is selling the property in the heart of golden triangle luxury in Quinta do Lago.

Anyone who buys will have the name of the original owner forever attached to the home as the street was renamed Avenida Ayrton Senna after the three-time world champion died in an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Set in a hectare of land, the property is understood to include a football pitch, swimming pool, putting green and tennis court.

A fitness enthusiast, Senna was known to have spent a large portion of his time at the villa when racing in Europe.
