Rabbit invasion

AN INVASION of rabbits has led to the famous Robben Island museum in South Africa closing while the fluffy trespassers are culled.

The site, where Nelson Mandela was famously jailed, is a popular tourist destination and will be closed between November 1 and 16 while the rabbit population is brought under control.

There are so many rabbits on the island that the vegetation and delicate ecosystem is under threat leading to the drastic measure of culling.

A sterilisation programme of rabbits on the island has been planned to prevent any further inundations.
