Quizzing for distressed animals

A total of €900 has been raised by the Cupid Club’s ‘Quiz for the Animals’ evenings during the summer.

The final event took place on September 15 at the new venue of Vivenda Constância in Faxelhas and raised €380.

Combined with the previous summer funds raised, the €900 will provide help for distressed animals in the Algarve via the Donkey Sanctuary (Refúgio dos Burros) in Estombar and the newly opened animal centre at Goldra.

Following a plea from Goldra, €120 was set aside to create three portable puppy pens so that older puppies can be separated from the younger ones.

Quiz master Chris New said: “If you enjoy a good quiz and would like to join in the fun and meet new people, come along; we can always find a good team for you to join.”

For €12, guests are treated to an evening of food, beverages and a general knowledge, picture and music quiz.

“Everything for the evening is supplied by volunteers and we have no venue costs, so virtually all the money raised goes straight to helping the animals,” Chris concluded.

The next quiz date is yet to be confirmed but has been set to take place in November.
