A total of €671 was raised for the Refugio dos Burros (Donkey Sanctuary) in Estombar on June 9, at the first summer season ‘Quiz for the Animals’, held by the Cupid Group.
Members gathered at Quinta das Oliveiras in Poço Barreto to participate in the quiz, a raffle and enjoy a meal which included chicken with ginger, ham-cheese and potato casserole and chilli con carne, plus more.
At the Sanctuary’s request €342 of the money raised has been used to purchase urgently needed flea/tick collars and €600 has been set aside for their neutering programme.
Upcoming quizes will take place on July 14, August 18 and September 15, at the new location of Vivenda Constancia, between the Alcantarilha train station and Fontes de Louseiros, which is also home to quiz master, Chris New.
“If you enjoy a good quiz and would like to join in the fun and meet new people, we invite you to come along and we can find a team for you,” said Chris.
For €12 all participants receive an entertaining evening with food and beverages, all in aid of the animals.
