Trio Amar Guitarra to perform at next ‘Jazz in the Wine Cellars’ event
‘Jazz nas Adegas’ (Jazz in the Wine Cellars), an event that brings jazz music into the wine cellars of Silves and neighbouring boroughs, is returning with another session planned for the last weekend of this month (March 25-26).
The event has become a must for people who love both wine and jazz, and sessions often sell out.
This time the event will visit Estômbar winery Quinta dos Vales. Musical entertainment will be provided by Amar Guitarra, a talented trio comprising João Cuña (Portuguese guitar and steel-string acoustic guitar), Pedro Mendes (classical guitar) and Carlos Poubel (percussion) who together will perform their “energetic and captivating” original tunes.
The first session will take place on Friday at 9pm, followed by the second on Saturday at 5pm.
Tickets cost €15 – including the concert, wine tasting, tapas, a voucher to visit the local castle and archaeology museum and a bottle of wine – and can be purchased online at https://cmsilves.bol.pt or at Fnac, Worten, El Corte Inglés and CTT Correios.
Four more sessions are planned. Chibanga Groove are due to visit Quinta da Malaca in Alcantarilha on April 8 and 9, and Silves Filarmónica Combo will bring their talents to Barranco Longo in Algoz on April 29 and 30.
The festivities continue at Paxá Wines in Silves on May 13 and 14 with musical entertainment by SwingTête featuring Paula Padilha, while the last performance will take place at a still undisclosed venue in Armação de Pêra on May 28 with live music by Miss Manouche.
