A 25-year-old Romanian, who was one of a gang that broke into a luxury property in Quinta do Lago occupied by an English couple and a friend on Monday morning, was captured soon after the attack with the help of two nightguards employed at the resort.
He was found to be in possession of items stolen from the house where one of the victims was assaulted.
The detained man was due to appear in court in Loulé to answer for his crime which occurred while the three victims were asleep inside the villa.
