Quercus opposes planned 18-hole golf course near Silves

Environmental organisation Quercus has strongly opposed plans for the construction of a new 18-hole golf course on a 61-hectare plot in Silves.
The environmentalists are particularly upset that it is earmarked for National Ecological Reserve (REN) land that should be protected, but they also question whether the Algarve needs the golf course, pointing out that it already has 37.
The plan, put forward by Feitoria Fenícia – Investimentos Agropecuários e Turísticos, Lda was under public consultation until Tuesday (September 16).
