A “giant” Folar Easter cake will be unveiled in Quarteira on Saturday, April 20.
Baked by local pastry shop Pastelaria Duo Doce, the Folar will be 100 metres long and weigh an impressive 330 kilos.
The ingredient list is impressive: 150kg of flour, 30kg of sugar, 30kg of margarine, 450 eggs, several liqueurs, cinnamon, fennel, orange juice and zest, lemon zest, biological yeast, aromatic herb tea and honey.
The cake will be presented at Rua Vasco da Gama at around 3pm and everyone will be able to taste it.
On the same day, the traditional ‘Baile da Pinha’ party will take place in front of the local parish council. There will be “gastronomy, music and a lot of entertainment”, organisers say.
