Quarteira brings back Octopus Week

Quarteira brings back Octopus Week

Until October 2, twenty-six restaurants will showcase creative dishes made with the local delicacy

Quarteira’s Octopus Week is back for another edition. The event, which started yesterday, runs until October 2 and includes the participation of 26 restaurants.

After two years of break, the Association of Entrepreneurs of Quarteira and Vilamoura, with the support of the Municipality of Loulé and the Parish Council of Quarteira, come together once again to promote gastronomic tourism.

Known for its link to the sea, Quarteira is famous for its octopus fishing tradition.

To mark the fifth edition of the event, local restaurants have been invited to prepare creative dishes using the gastronomic versatility of the octopus. Suggestions will multiply and range from traditional to bold and surprising national and international concoctions.

Special events include show-cooking sessions with chef José Moura on September 25 and 30. These events are promoted by Docapesca and take place in the Largo do Mercado de Quarteira at 10:00.

On September 30, there will also be musical entertainment. The Rancho Folclórico Infantil e Juvenil de Loulé will put on a traditional dance performance on the Vilamoura Marina promenade at 21:30.

To promote an itinerary of experiences and flavours, the organisation created a “Polvo Passport”, in which participants can collect the stamps of the places they have visited. The passports can be requested at any participating restaurant.

The full Semana do Polvo 2022 programme and its participating restaurants can be consulted here or on the event’s Facebook page.
