Algarve-based supermarket company Apolónia, which has stores in Almancil and Galé, offers customers a large variety of fresh quality produce from around the world.
Avelino and Célia Apolónia started the company in 1983 with a small minimarket in Vale d’Éguas near Almancil.
The couple began to specialise in new products that emerged in the Portuguese market as well as foreign products to fulfil the needs of their multinational customers.
In 2008, the year the business celebrated its 25th anniversary, Apolónia opened a second supermarket in Galé, Albufeira, offering clients more than 25,000 products in a 980sqm establishment.
A spokesman from the supermarket chain told the Algarve Resident: “We offer a large variety of quality food and drinks products including services such as a cold meats counter, a bakery, a winery, fresh fruit and vegetables and a sushi bar.”
The supermarkets also stock a large variety of British products as well as well known brands of popular ethnic foods such as curry pastes.
Each supermarket also has free car parking facilities for customers.
Both Apolónia supermarkets are open daily from 8am until 8pm. The supermarket in Almancil is closed on Sundays but open on bank holidays from 8am until 1pm.
