ENGLISH TEACHER Karen Whitten from Lagos is organising a 12km sponsored walk near Lagos to raise money for the Bright Sparks School project, which provides learning resources for children living in slums in Delhi, India.
Bright Sparks is 100 per cent dependent on funding from sponsors to provide the average annual cost of 300 euros to educate each child.
The event, which takes place on International Children’s Day (June 1), is an opportunity for anyone who would enjoy a scenic walk to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. The circular route meanders through Vale da Joana and Vale de Coelhos, before gently climbing to some spectacular views of the west and south coasts. It begins and ends at the church in Barão de São João, near Lagos, and is expected to take a little over three hours.
All those who would like to participate should meet at the church in Barão de São João at 9.45am.
