Pushing the boat out

news: Pushing the boat out

BEFORE THEIR concerts at Carvoeiro, Ferragudo and Lagoa last week, the Good Time Jazz Band had fun dressing up in 1920s swimming costumes for a special photo shoot, partly for publicity but mainly for the front cover of their new CD, Pushing the Boat Out, to be released at the end of this month.

The occasion intrigued bathers on the Carvoeiro beach and raised not a few eyebrows and some hilarity. Wearing straw boaters kindly loaned by The Algarveans and a mixture of authentic and homemade period costumes, the members of the band climbed into one of the colourful fishing boats, taking with them an ancient wind-up phonograph.

The jazz band’s new CD, featuring vocalist Karen Love, plays a mixture of classic jazz tunes and seldom heard comic songs and blues. The Good Time Jazz Band is well known for their humorous and entertaining approach to jazz from the Roaring Twenties.

They will launch Pushing the Boat Out in the new Showcase event at Fnac store in Algarve Shopping, Guia, at 9pm, on Wednesday, August 31. Don’t miss it!
