Art GCSE pupils at the International School São Lourenço (ISSL) in Almancil have now completed their Photography Studio Lighting Workshop.
Taught by photographer Helena Barnard, students were able to develop a new artistic skill. Industry standard lighting equipment was used to set up a studio at the school while the pupils’ work was printed in the school darkroom.
Helena Barnard has worked as a fashion and celebrity photographer in London for more than 10 years and as well as working on photography projects in the Algarve she has been teaching her photographic knowledge to the pupils of the ISSL, alongside Carol Campbell, the head of the Art department.
From September, the ISSL will be offering Photography as an A level option to enable pupils that are particularly interested in this area to study it at a higher level.
