Public prosecutor slates appeal by mother of tortured tot

Portugal’s public prosecutor has resoundingly slated the appeal lodged by Inês Sanches for a shorter jail term, after being found guilty over the horrendous death of her three-year-old daughter Jéssica. The prosecutor’s reasoning cites Sanches’ “limitless egoism” demonstrated when she did nothing to impede the suffering and the death of her child. Sanches and two of the other women condemned over Jéssica’s death are all appealing their 25-year jail terms. The court is unlikely to reach a decision before next year.
