PSP ‘saves elderly woman from death at hands of husband’

A desperate call to 112 may well have saved the life of a 78-year-old woman discovered by PSP police who immediately raced to the scene in Barreiro (Setúbal district) ‘almost inanimate and bleeding profusely’. The woman had been stabbed several times by her husband, who was promptly arrested. Reports explain the 73-year-old man had been condemned in 2017 to four years in jail for domestic violence – but remained free, because the court suspended the sentence.
