PSP publish catch-a-Pokémon safety hints

With the the new online Pokémon Go craze helping to blur the boundaries between fiction and reality, Portugal’s PSP police has thought fit to publish safety hints for users via Facebook. The game has resulted in “some incidents, serious injuries and even crimes”, report the boys in blue, stressing that people should “not forget that we are in the real world”, and that children particularly “should not interact with strangers”.

Pokémon hunters should be “always aware of their environment” and be careful not to stalk the Japanese figures alone, says the advice.

The craze, which involves using smartphones and capturing, training and entering into battles with virtual figures, is sweeping the world and has already seen players disappear over cliffs in San Diego and crash cars, again in America.
